Hello! In April, Events by Emerson had the pleasure of coordinating the wedding of Carol & Marc in Sherman/Denison, Texas! The ceremony took place at the spectacular Wynne Chapel at Austin College and the reception was held at the Hilton Garden Inn in Denison, Texas. Carol & Marc had quite the weekend planned for their guests and it was truly a pleasure to be involved and meet their wonderful family and friends! My favorite highlight of the wedding was definitely the mariachi band that greeted Carol & Marc and their guests as they emerged from Wynne Chapel and entertained during cocktail at the Hilton Garden Inn!
It was such a beautiful whirlwind of a day I didn’t get a chance to take very many photos, but please enjoy the few I was able to grab on my phone below! And check out our amazing vendors!

Donnie & Bianca brought me on board in February to help them reach the finish line and it was a pleasure to work with this lovely couple! My first event in the Fort Worth area, I truly enjoyed my time in the city! It was interesting the way it felt a little slower and a bit more laid back than the Dallas area. Anyways, I’d love to share with you a few photos and details from their wedding day. I’ll post a new blog when the professional photos have come in. Enjoy!
Saturday, June 24, 2017 we awoke to a BEAUTIFULLY gray and rainy day. I assure you the rain and clouds were the most welcome sight ever as even the briefest activities the previous day had resulted in the need for another shower. Temperature’s reached 101 degrees the day before and to wake up to weather in the 70’s for the wedding day was a dream come true! Especially for those of us doing the loading in and out! The rain stopped by 1pm, right on schedule for an evening wedding and the sun came out, but temps stayed below 85 degrees. It was a beautiful day for Donnie & Bianca’s wedding!
The ceremony and reception took place on Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base Fort Worth, in the Presidential Ballroom of the Lone Star Center. Donnie & Bianca were joined by 100 of their closest friends and family for an intimate ceremony and unforgettable reception! The dance skills of the wedding party provided many highlights throughout the night and was definitely a memory this planner will never forget! Other highlights include the touching speech made by the Bride’s father to the bride and groom that had us all tearing up! Here are a few photos I snapped on my phone. Can’t wait to see the professional photos! I will share them when they come in.

Update: New blog posts are up that include photos from wedding photographers Elizabeth Photography and Samantha Morrow!
A few weeks ago I had the honor of being a part of Patricia and Monte’s special day after almost a year and a half of planning with them. It was a beautiful day and Patricia was an absolutely gorgeous bride! The ceremony was held in the atrium of Kelly Square and the reception was held next door in Grayson Hall. The couple fell in love with the venue almost two years ago and it truly was a unique and romantic place for them to start their life together. Here are a few iPhone pics I took after setup. I will update the blog when all the photographer photos are in (yes, I said all..there were 3!)

Centerpieces get a lot of attention when it comes to designing the tablescape for your special event, but one element that doesn’t get as much attention is your napkins. Many people often forget about this element, but in my opinion it is one of the cheapest ways to add flair to your table. It can also set the tone for the event as napkin styles can range from simple to elaborate.
There’s the restaurant or banquet style fold we’ve seen many times:
I would stay away from the restaurant style fold for weddings, it conjures thoughts of a banquet, corporate events, dinners, etc.
A look that is popping up a lot recently is the pocket fold. There are many different variations on the pocket fold:
This style is neat because it can be spruced up easily. One cute idea is to insert a single fresh floral stem like a tulip in the pocket. Tying a bow around the napkin looks nice as well.
Perhaps the simplest style (and quickest to execute) is the table hang. Usually the napkin is folded long ways and hung on the edge of the table so it is half on and half off the table. You see this look a lot at rustic or country style wedding receptions, or outdoor events, as it is usually a more casual look.
Now if you really want to ‘wow’ your guests…
You go with something like the Lotus fold! These napkin styles are great for a bridal shower, post-wedding brunch, baby shower and more.
Here are a two resources with step by step instructions for folding many different napkin styles:
- 27 Different Napkin Folding Styles from the Napkin Folding Guide
- 20+ Napkin Folding Styles from Setting for Four
TIP: Don’t wait til you are setting your tables the day of your event to create your napkin styles. Fold them ahead of time and simply place them at each setting.
Have you attempted any of these napkin folding styles? What napkin style did you choose for your event?
